Warning, Construction & Information SignsStandalone practice
Beside a rural road you pass a round yellow sign with a black X and the letters RR. What does it tell you?

Correct answer: A railroad crossing is ahead, so slow down and look and listen for trains
Why
Trains cannot stop quickly, so the advance sign gives you time to slow down before the tracks. When you must stop for a train, a signal, a gate or an officer, New Mexico law requires you to stop no closer than 15 feet and no farther than 50 feet from the nearest rail. Go on only when you can cross all of the tracks without stopping on them.
