Passing target: 70% (14/20)
You follow a slow car on a two-lane road with a broken yellow center line. The road climbs toward the top of a hill, and you cannot see over it. What should you do?
A follows slower car B on a two-lane road marked by a broken yellow center line. A side-view detail shows the hilltop that blocks the view beyond it.
Correct answer: Wait until you can see over the hill and far enough ahead to pass safely.
Why
Hills and curves hide oncoming traffic until it is close, and a head-on crash at road speed is often fatal. The law forbids driving on the left side of the road near the crest of a hill or on a curve where your view is blocked, even where the center line is broken. Wait for a straight part of road where you can see that the oncoming lane is clear for a long distance.
