Driver A leaves a parkway and turns onto a residential street in Brooklyn. No speed-limit sign is posted on the street, and Driver A keeps a steady 30 mph. Which statement is correct?
Correct answer: Driver A is over the limit, because the city limit is 25 mph unless posted
Why
Some cities have speed limits below 55 mph that are not posted on every block, and New York City is the example that the manual gives. When you leave a parkway or expressway, check your speedometer, because the change from highway speed is large and 30 mph can feel slow. A lower speed on city streets gives you more time to stop for pedestrians and bicyclists and makes a crash less severe.
