You finish parallel parking on a two-way street. When you get out, you see that your right-side wheels are about 18 inches from the curb. What should you do?
A is parked parallel to the right curb of a two-way street. The neutral caption states that its right-side wheels are about 18 inches from the curb.
Correct answer: Move it, since the right wheels must be no more than 1 foot from the curb.
Why
A car parked far from the curb sticks out into the travel lane, where traffic and bicyclists must steer around it. To get closer, pull forward and back up a few times, turning the wheel toward the curb and then quickly straight again. On a one-way street, the law also lets you park at the left curb, with the left wheels within 12 inches of it.
