Passing target: 70% (14/20)
You drive in the right lane and plan to turn right onto a street that has two lanes going your way. How should you make the turn?
A approaches in the right-hand lane of a two-way street. The cross street has two lanes in each direction, separated by yellow center lines.
Correct answer: Keep close to the right curb, make a tight turn and end in the right lane.
Why
New York's turn positions come from the law, not only from good advice. A position close to the curb keeps other vehicles from coming up on your right and shortens the time that you block traffic. Watch for pedestrians, cyclists and moped riders on your right, and remember that your rear wheels track closer to the curb than your front wheels.
