Regulatory, Lane & Parking SignsStandalone practice
A traffic island divides the road ahead. On its front end is a white sign that shows a rounded black shape near the top and a black arrow that curves up past the right side of that shape. What must you do?

Correct answer: Keep to the right side of the island as you drive past it
Why
North Carolina law requires drivers to keep to the right half of the road and to obey signs that assign lanes to a direction of travel. Islands and dividers often separate your lane from oncoming traffic, so a pass on the wrong side can lead to a head-on crash. The handbook also shows a sign with the arrow on the left side of the shape, for places where traffic must pass on the left.
