Passing target: 80% (24/30)
On a narrow two-lane street, cars are coming toward you in the other lane, and a young child is riding a bicycle near the right edge of your lane. How should you position your car as you pass the child?
A approaches child cyclist C riding near the right edge of its lane on a narrow two-way street. Cars B and D approach in the other lane; no passing position is selected.
Correct answer: Give the child more room, even if that puts you a little closer to the oncoming cars.
Why
This is called adjusting: you give the most room to the greater or more likely danger. If two dangers are equally serious, such as oncoming cars and parked cars, slow down and let the oncoming traffic pass before you go on. Slowing down also gives you more time to react if the child swerves.
