You are driving through a residential area. A ball bounces into the street from between two parked cars. What should you do?
A ball is in the residential street beside the gap between parked cars B and C. Car A approaches from the left; a separate enlarged detail identifies the ball. No child is shown in the road.
Correct answer: Slow down and be ready to stop, because a child may run out after the ball.
Why
Young children are small, hard to see between parked cars, and often do not look before they run. By slowing down early, you give yourself time to stop if a child appears. Be most alert near schools, parks and playgrounds, and at any time children are out.
