Late at night, the signal at an intersection flashes red in your direction, and cross traffic sees a flashing yellow light. What must you do?
Two enlarged signal displays are labeled Facing you and Cross street. The facing signal has a red upper lamp flashing; the cross-street signal has a yellow middle lamp flashing.
Correct answer: Stop fully, then go when the way is clear, as at a STOP sign
Why
Signals often change to flashing mode late at night or when traffic is light. At a flashing yellow light you may go on without a stop, but only with caution. N.D.C.C. 39-10-07 gives flashing red and yellow arrows the same meanings, but only for the movement that the arrow shows.
