Passing target: 80% (24/30)
You wait in the left-turn lane. The round lights are red, and a green left arrow comes on. A pedestrian who started to cross earlier is still in the crosswalk that you will turn across. What should you do?
A waits in a northbound left-turn lane behind its stop line. Its signal shows a circular red lamp and a green left arrow; pedestrian B is still crossing the street A would enter.
Correct answer: Let the pedestrian finish crossing, then make your left turn
Why
In the manual's turn-signal table, a steady green arrow means that left-turning drivers have the right-of-way over oncoming traffic. A flashing yellow arrow is different: you may turn left only after you yield to oncoming traffic and pedestrians. When the arrow turns steady yellow, the protected turn is about to end.
