Parking, Reversing & Roadside StopsStandalone practice
You must back your car about 60 feet down a long driveway that slopes down to the street. How should you control your speed?
Correct answer: Press the accelerator gently and keep the car slow, because a car is much harder to steer in reverse
Why
Before you back up, put your foot on the brake and shift to reverse; then press the accelerator gently. To move the rear of the car to one side, turn the steering wheel slightly toward that side. At a slow speed, a small steering error does not become a crash, and you can stop quickly for a child or a pet that appears behind the car.
