At a four-way stop, a pickup truck on the street to your left reaches its stop line and stops. A moment later, you stop at your line. No one else is at the intersection. Who should go first?
Blue car A and silver pickup B wait behind separate stop lines at a four-way stop. B is on the street to A’s left, and the card says that B stopped first and A stopped a moment later.
Correct answer: The pickup truck, because it stopped at the intersection before you did
Why
After a full stop, every driver must also yield to vehicles already in the intersection or so close that they are a hazard. When two drivers arrive together, the driver on the left yields to the driver on the right. Make eye contact, and go only when your turn comes and the path is clear.
