Passing target: 75% (30/40)
On a two-lane road with a 55 mph limit, you come up behind a farm tractor that moves at 15 mph. The center line on your side is solid yellow. When may you cross the center line to pass the tractor?
A follows farm tractor B on a two-lane road. The yellow center line on A’s side is solid and the opposite line is broken. The card identifies the tractor’s speed as 15 mph and the road limit as 55 mph.
Correct answer: When you can see enough clear road and can pass without going over 55 mph.
Why
All three conditions must be true at the same time: the slow vehicle is under half the posted limit, you stay at or below the limit while you pass, and you can see enough of the other lane. Farm machinery may turn left into a field or driveway without much warning, so watch for its signals and pass with care. Do not pass near a hill, curve, intersection or railroad crossing.
