You turn left from a two-way street onto a four-lane, two-way street. Where should you start and finish the turn?
A approaches a left turn on the right side of a two-way street, beside its center line. The receiving street has two lanes in each direction, with a yellow center line and white lane dividers.
Correct answer: Start beside the center line, and finish in the lane just right of the new center line.
Why
For a left turn between two-way streets, Ohio law has you approach in the part of your half of the road nearest the center line and leave the intersection to the right of the center line of the street that you enter (ORC 4511.36). The Ohio manual adds that you finish in the lane furthest left on that side, also on a four-lane road. When you turn from or onto a one-way street, use the left-most lane that is open to your direction.
