You turn right from a two-lane street onto a street with two lanes in each direction. Which path is correct?
A approaches a right turn from a two-lane, two-way street. The receiving street has two lanes in each direction, divided by double yellow center lines.
Correct answer: Start close to the right curb, then turn into the right lane.
Why
Ohio law requires both the approach and the right turn to be made as close as practical to the right curb or edge of the road (ORC 4511.36). A tight, predictable path keeps your car out of other lanes and shows other road users exactly where you will go. If you need a different lane after the turn, signal and check your blind spot, then change lanes.
