Passing target: 75% (30/40)
You drive in the left lane of a road with two lanes in each direction. A police car behind you turns on its flashing lights and siren, and the officer signals you to stop. What should you do?
A travels in the left lane of a road with two lanes in each direction. Police vehicle B follows in the same lane with flashing blue lights; the card states that its siren is on and the officer signals A to stop.
Correct answer: Signal, move to the right when it is safe, and stop at the right edge of the road, clear of any intersection
Why
A stop at the right edge keeps you and the officer as far as possible from moving traffic. After you stop, shift to Park, turn off the engine, lower the window, and stay in the car unless the officer tells you to get out. Keep your safety belt fastened and your hands on the steering wheel, and if there is a weapon in the vehicle, tell the officer when the officer first comes to you.
