Your steering wheel has so much free play that the car wanders in its lane. You need to get to work, 3 miles away. What should you do?
Correct answer: Leave it parked, and have it repaired before anyone drives it.
Why
Before you drive, check the equipment that keeps you in control: steering, brakes, tires, lights, mirrors, wipers, and horn. Ohio law makes it an offense to drive, or knowingly let someone else drive, a vehicle so unsafe that it endangers any person (ORC 4513.02). A state trooper can also inspect a vehicle and order an unsafe one off the road until it is repaired.
