Passing target: 80% (16/20)
You drive on a four-lane highway divided by a wide grass median. On the other side of the median, a school bus going the other way stops with its red lights flashing. What does Oklahoma law require of you?
A and oncoming school bus B are on separate roadways of a four-lane highway. A wide grass median divides the roadways; B is stopped with red warning lamps lit and its STOP arm extended.
Correct answer: Continue with care, because the bus is on a separate roadway across the median
Why
Oklahoma law gives an exception to the school-bus stop rule for highways with separate roadways. If a median or a barrier separates your roadway from the bus's roadway, you need not stop when you meet the bus; drive on with care and watch for children near the road. On a road with only a painted center line, traffic in both directions must stop. Traffic behind the bus, on the same roadway, must always stop.
