At a four-way stop, you come to a full stop first and plan to turn left. About a second later, a car stops on the road to your right. That driver plans to go straight. Who should go first?
A is stopped on the west approach of a four-way stop and plans to turn left. B is stopped on the south approach, to A’s right; the cards state that A stopped first and B stopped about one second later.
Correct answer: You go first, because you reached the intersection and stopped first.
Why
At a four-way stop, every driver must stop, and the drivers then go in the order in which they arrived. Oklahoma law also gives a vehicle that is already in the intersection the right-of-way over one that has not entered. Before you go, look again: the other driver may not follow the rule, and the manual tells you to yield when a crash is possible.
