Today the sun sets at 7:40 p.m. You drive home on a clear evening. At the latest, by what time does Oklahoma law require your headlights to be on?
Correct answer: 8:10 p.m., one-half hour after sunset
Why
You must also use headlights at any other time when you cannot clearly see people and vehicles 1,000 feet ahead, for example in rain, fog or smoke. Headlights also make your car easier for other drivers to see, so many drivers turn them on earlier. Always use them when a road sign says that they must be on.
