Passing target: 80% (16/20)
You drive at night on a dark two-lane highway with your high beams on. An oncoming car comes around a curve about 800 feet ahead of you. What does Oklahoma law require?
At night on a two-lane road, A has a broad high-beam light pool toward oncoming B, which has just emerged from the curve. The card gives B’s distance as about 800 feet and states that the distance is not to scale; there are no streetlights.
Correct answer: Switch to low beams now, because the car is within 1,000 feet.
Why
High beams shine into the eyes of the other driver and can blind that driver for a moment, which is dangerous on a two-lane road. Also dim when you follow another vehicle within 600 feet, because your high beams reflect in its mirrors. Use high beams on open roads only when no other vehicle is near.
