Safe & Responsible DrivingStandalone practice
Your friend had four drinks at a party. He drinks two cups of black coffee, takes a cold shower and says that he is now sober enough to drive home. What is true?
Correct answer: Only time lowers his alcohol level; the coffee and the shower do not remove alcohol.
Why
Your body needs time to break down alcohol, and coffee, cold water, exercise or fresh air do not change that rate. A drinker who feels more alert is still impaired, and alcohol has already weakened the judgment that he uses to decide. Do not let a friend drive after drinking: offer a ride with a sober driver, call a ride service or let him stay until he is sober.
