You parallel park facing uphill beside a curb. How should you set your front wheels?
A is parked facing uphill with the curb on its right. A separate side-profile line shows the slope; the question does not select a front-wheel setting.
Correct answer: Turn them away from the curb and roll back until a tire touches the curb
Why
When you face uphill, a car that rolls moves backward. If the front wheels point away from the curb, the back of the front tire meets the curb and stops the car. Stop within 6 inches of the curb, set the parking brake, and shift into park (or low gear in a car with a manual transmission). If there is no curb, the manual tells you to turn the wheels sharply to the right, so that a rolling car goes off the road and away from traffic.
