You drive on a city street at 35 mph. A text from a friend lights up the phone on the seat beside you. What does Oklahoma law allow?
Correct answer: You may not read or type it by hand while the car is moving.
Why
Texting takes your eyes, your hands and your mind off driving at the same time, which makes it one of the most dangerous distractions. The only exception is a message about an emergency to 911, the police, the fire department, an ambulance service, or a hospital or doctor's office. A learner permit or intermediate license can be suspended or canceled for any hand-held device use while driving that is not for a life-threatening emergency, so pull off the road and park first.
