Passing target: 16 correct signs and 16 correct rules (TLA practice targets)
According to the MTO handbook, how far should you be able to see in both directions before making a U-turn at an otherwise permitted location?
Blue A faces right in the lower lane of a straight two-way road. The road continues to the left and right without a distance mark or U-turn path.
Correct answer: At least 150 metres in both directions
Why
At an otherwise permitted location, the MTO handbook advises a clear view of at least 150 metres in both directions before a U-turn. Visibility alone does not make every location lawful: HTA section 143 separately prohibits U-turns on or within 30 metres of a railway crossing and specifies restrictions for curves, grade crests and obstructed bridges, viaducts or tunnels. Obey signs and check traffic before turning.
Verified against MTO Driver’s Handbook — Changing directions · U-turn: at least 150 metres of view in both directions and no prohibitory sign; otherwise safe turning.
