Sections are scored separately

DriveTest scores the knowledge test in sections, for example signs and rules of the road. The total score must be at least 80%. A retest within one year repeats only the sections that did not meet the MTO standard.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Ontario G1 practice test free?

Yes. All 435 questions, with their answers and explanations, are free, and so are the 6 numbered practice tests. You do not need an account to practise. You get 1 free exam simulation, and 2 with a free account. A free account also keeps your progress on all your devices. The optional Exam Pass is a one-time payment for one test and 90 days, not a subscription. It adds practice tools: practice by topic, practice of missed and saved questions until you get them right, more exam simulations, a timed exam simulator and a chance-to-pass score.
