Lane changes, passing and streetcarsStandalone practice
On an ordinary road, which situation can permit passing another vehicle on its right?
Correct answer: The vehicle ahead is turning left and you can pass safely.
Why
HTA section 150 allows safe right-side passing in specified cases, including a vehicle making, about to make or signalling a left turn. Its paved-right-shoulder exception can apply to that left-turner case. A paved shoulder is not general passing permission, and designated shoulder restrictions still apply.
