Passing target: 80% (28/35)
You drive on a city street and plan to turn right into a driveway ahead. When must your turn signal be on?
A travels on a two-way city street toward a driveway on its right. The driveway opening and A’s approach are visible, with no distance, signal-start mark or turning path in the question image.
Correct answer: Without a break during at least the last 100 feet before the turn
Why
An early signal tells drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians where you will go, so they have time to react. Oregon law sets 100 feet as the minimum for a turn, and the manual uses the same distance for a lane change in traffic. When you pull away from a curb, signal long enough to warn the traffic in the lane. A signal gives you no right-of-way, so check that the move is safe.
