In a city, you are at an intersection controlled by a traffic signal. No sign about U-turns is posted. Your light is green, and you want to go back the way you came. What should you do?
A approaches a signal-controlled city intersection under a circular green light. No U-turn sign is posted. The card states that A wants to go back the way it came; no selected maneuver appears.
Correct answer: Do not make a U-turn here; drive on and turn around where it is legal to do so.
Why
A U-turn at a busy signal crosses several streams of traffic that move on their own green lights. For this reason, Oregon prohibits it unless a sign at the intersection permits it. In a city, a U-turn between intersections is also prohibited, so a turn around the block is often the legal choice.
