Licensing & Test ReadinessStandalone practice
Alex, 16, got a junior driver's license two months ago. At 11:30 p.m. Alex wants to drive home alone from a friend's house. The trip has nothing to do with a job, a volunteer fire company or a charity activity. What does the law allow?
Correct answer: Alex may not drive at that time unless a parent rides along in the car.
Why
Night driving is riskier for new drivers because of darkness, fatigue and more impaired drivers on the road. The exception for work, volunteer fire service and public or charitable service requires a signed, notarized affidavit or certificate kept with the license. A junior license becomes a regular license automatically at age 18.
