Passing target: 83.3% (15/18)
You are parked at the right curb of a busy street, and you want to pull out. A car comes toward you in the lane beside you, about 100 feet behind. What should you do?
A is parked at the right curb facing with traffic. B approaches from behind in the adjacent travel lane, about 100 feet from the rear of A. The question asks about pulling out and shows no chosen route.
Correct answer: Signal, check the mirror and look over your left shoulder, and wait for the car to pass.
Why
When you pull out from the curb, you make a lane change, and drivers in the lane may not expect it. Pennsylvania law (75 Pa.C.S. 3333 and 3334) lets you move a parked vehicle only when the move is safe. It also requires a signal before you enter traffic from a parked position. Look over your left shoulder, because the mirrors do not show the blind spot.
