Passing target: 75% in each of the three areas
Two solid yellow lines separate opposing traffic on a Québec road. May a driver cross them for an ordinary pass of another passenger car?
Cars approaching in opposite directions on either side of double solid yellow centre lines.
Correct answer: No; neither side may cross for an ordinary pass.
Why
Do not cross double solid yellow centre lines for an ordinary pass of another passenger car. The restriction applies from either direction. Québec does allow particular safe overtaking exceptions, including for a cyclist or a vehicle bearing the slow-moving-vehicle triangle. Those specific cases do not mean you may cross simply because an ordinary car ahead is slower than you prefer.
