Passing target: 75% in each of the three areas
On an undivided Quebec road, you approach a school bus transporting pupils with flashing red lights or its stop arm activated. What must you do?
A yellow school bus faces left on an undivided road, with red warning lamps and a stop arm. A blue car approaches from behind and a silver car from the other direction. The drawing is not to scale.
Correct answer: Stop more than 5 m away; wait until both warnings end and it is safe.
Why
Stop more than 5 m from a school bus with flashing red lights or an activated stop arm. This applies from either direction on an undivided road. Remain stopped until the red lights are off and the arm is retracted, then proceed only if safe. The opposite-direction exception is for an adjacent roadway separated by a median or another raised physical divider; a painted line is not that divider.
