Which three parts make up the total stopping distance described by SAAQ?
Correct answer: Perception distance, reaction distance and braking distance.
Why
Total stopping distance includes the travel while you perceive the hazard, the travel while you react, and the braking distance after the brakes are applied. Speed, alertness, vehicle condition and road grip affect the total. Do not count only braking distance or omit the perception phase.
