Passing target: 75% in each of the three areas
What do white lines between adjacent traffic lanes generally indicate on a Québec road?
A four-lane road without traffic. Broken white lines divide lanes on each side of a yellow centre line. No travel arrows are shown.
Correct answer: The lanes carry traffic in the same direction.
Why
White lines between traffic lanes generally separate vehicles moving in the same direction. A broken line may be crossed when the movement is legal and safe; a solid line imposes a crossing restriction. White also has other uses, including stop lines, road edges and some crosswalks, so identify the marking's position as well as its colour.
