Passing target: 80% (24/30)
You drive on a two-lane road. An ambulance with a siren and flashing lights comes up behind you, and an intersection is just ahead. What must you do?
A travels east on a two-lane road toward an intersection. Ambulance B follows behind with its warning lamps lit. The card states that the lights flash and the siren sounds. No pull-over route is shown.
Correct answer: Pull to the right edge, clear of the intersection, and stop until it passes.
Why
Yield to every emergency vehicle that uses a siren and red, blue or white lights. Do not stop inside an intersection, because the emergency vehicle may need to go through it. Before you drive on, signal and look for a second emergency vehicle. Then, as the manual advises, stay 500 feet behind any emergency vehicle.
