Passing target: 80% (24/30)
You drive out of a driveway. A sidewalk crosses the driveway before the street. Where does the Rhode Island manual say that you must stop?
A approaches a sidewalk that crosses the driveway before the street. A is still short of the sidewalk; car B travels on the street beyond. The question image identifies the sidewalk without showing stop positions.
Correct answer: At the sidewalk first, then again at the curb line.
Why
A driver who enters a street from a driveway or private road must yield to all vehicles on the street and to pedestrians. In a business or residence district, Rhode Island law also requires a stop before you drive onto the sidewalk. Stopping twice gives you a clear view of each hazard in turn.
