You drive in the lane to the left of a tractor-trailer on the highway. When is the truck driver most likely to see your car?
A travels beside the trailer in the lane to the left of tractor-trailer B. Both vehicles face right on a two-lane freeway roadway; the question shows no selected visibility test or blind-zone shading.
Correct answer: When you can see the truck driver's face in the truck's side mirror.
Why
A tractor-trailer has three large blind spots, which the manual calls 'no zones': in front of the truck, along its left and right front sides, and behind it. Do not stay in these areas; pull ahead or drop back quickly. Hold the steering wheel firmly when you pass, because the air flow between the two vehicles can pull them together.
