Traffic Signals & Road MarkingsStandalone practice
You stop at a red light and want to turn right. No sign prohibits the turn. A pedestrian has started to cross the street that you will turn into. What should you do?
A is stopped at a red light before a right turn. Pedestrian B is in the crosswalk across the street A would enter, and no sign prohibiting the turn is shown.
Correct answer: Stay stopped until the pedestrian has crossed, then turn when clear.
Why
A right turn on red is permitted, not required, so do not let drivers behind you push you. A NO TURN ON RED sign or a red arrow prohibits the turn. Look for pedestrians on your right and for traffic from the left before you move.
