Turns, Lanes, Passing & MergingStandalone practice
You drive on a city street and want to move into the lane on your left. In what order should you do the main steps?
Correct answer: Check the lane, signal early, check your blind spot, and then move.
Why
Rhode Island law lets you move right or left only when the move is safe, and it requires a signal when other traffic can be affected. The manual says to signal at least 100 feet before a lane change. Blind spots are areas that your mirrors cannot show, so look over your shoulder each time.
