Passing target: 80% (24/30)
You drive at 55 mph on an interstate with three lanes in your direction. Most other traffic moves faster than you. You do not plan to pass anyone or to exit soon. Which lane should you use?
A travels in the left lane of a three-lane interstate, with B farther ahead in the middle lane. The card states that A travels at 55 mph, other traffic is faster, and A is not passing or preparing to exit.
Correct answer: The right lane, because traffic that moves slower than normal must keep right.
Why
When slower traffic keeps right, faster drivers can pass on the left, and fewer lane changes are necessary. The right lane is also where drivers enter and leave the freeway, so watch for merging cars there. Where signs say so, trucks, buses and some other vehicles may not use the far-left lane.
