You drive in the right lane of a four-lane road. Cars are parked along the right curb, and a door could open. Which position should you use?
A travels in the right lane of a four-lane, two-way road. B and C are parked beside the right curb, separated from the two moving lanes by a solid white parking line. Their doors are closed; the card states that a door could open.
Correct answer: Move toward the left side of your lane, but stay inside your lane.
Why
The manual gives three positions inside one lane: the middle for normal driving, the left side when hazards are on your right or you will turn left, and the right side when hazards are on your left or you will turn right. These positions give you more space from a hazard without leaving your lane. If you must change lanes, first check that the move is safe, signal and look over your shoulder.
