Passing target: 20 correct signs and 20 correct rules
While you brake, the brake warning light comes on and much more pedal pressure is needed to slow the vehicle. What may this indicate?
Correct answer: One brake circuit may have failed; stop safely and call for help.
Why
Most vehicles have a two-circuit hydraulic braking system. A failure in one circuit can bring on the brake warning light and require much more pedal force to slow or stop. Keep control, continue applying the pressure needed to use the remaining brakes, and stop safely. Once stopped, do not drive farther; call for help. These signs are not a reason to dismiss the warning or assume that no braking remains.
