Passing target: 20 correct signs and 20 correct rules
You have steered around an obstacle into a clear path and counter-steered to stop the sideways change in direction. What should you do before a separate second steering manoeuvre?
A car has space to steer around a stationary obstacle into a clear adjacent path on the same side of a divided road.
Correct answer: Straighten the wheels and get the vehicle travelling straight.
Why
SGI describes three movements: steer toward the clear path, counter-steer to control the change in direction, then straighten the wheels. After going around the obstacle, get the vehicle travelling straight before starting a separate second steering movement. The timing matters; practise emergency steering with an experienced instructor.
