While you drive, you press the brake pedal and it sinks to the floor. The car does not slow down. What should you do first?
Correct answer: Apply the parking brake slowly, and be ready to release it if the car skids
Why
Check your warning lights before you drive; if the brake warning light is on, do not drive the car. If the parking brake also fails, turn off the engine, look for a safe place to slow to a stop, and make sure that the car is off the roadway. Follow the maintenance schedule in the owner's manual to lower the chance of a brake problem.
