Your light turns green. A car that entered on the last yellow is still crossing in front of you, and a pedestrian is finishing a walk across the crosswalk in your path. What should you do?
A faces west before a crosswalk at a green signal. Silver car B is still heading south across the intersection, and pedestrian C is walking north through A’s lane near the far end of the crosswalk.
Correct answer: Wait until the car and the pedestrian are clear, because they are lawfully in your path
Why
Green means that you may go if it is safe, not that the road is empty. When your light turns green, do not move at once: look left, right and left again for late cross traffic and for people in the crosswalk. A driver who runs the red light on the cross street can still be in your path.
