Passing target: 80% (24/30)
You are on the interstate at 65 mph, and your exit ramp has a posted speed of 35 mph. Where should you slow down to the ramp speed?
A travels ahead of B in the right interstate lane beside a separate deceleration lane and curving exit ramp. Both close badges are beside their cars. The card gives A’s current speed as 65 mph and its ramp speed as 35 mph.
Correct answer: In the deceleration lane, after you have moved off the main lanes.
Why
The deceleration lane is on the right of the main roadway, just before the ramp. It gives you room to slow down without making the traffic behind you brake. Ramps can curve sharply, so check the posted ramp speed and reach it before the curve.
