It is daytime, but heavy rain has started, and you switch on your windshield wipers. Which lights should you use?
Daytime rain surrounds blue A on the roadway. The card says the wipers are on. An enlarged detail shows the same A with no highlighted or selected light setting.
Correct answer: Your headlights on low beam, so that other drivers can see you.
Why
Headlights help other people see you at any time, especially in rain, snow or fog and at dusk. Daytime running lights do not replace headlights in bad weather. SDCL 32-17-4 requires lighted lamps from sunset to sunrise and whenever you cannot clearly see a person on the road 200 feet ahead.
