You are first in line at a red light. The light turns green. What should you do before you move into the intersection?
Blue car A is first at the intersection. Its signal shows a green circle, and the card says the light has just changed to green.
Correct answer: Look left, right and left again, because a cross-street driver may run the red.
Why
A green light lets you go, but it does not stop other road users from making mistakes. Drivers who are late, impaired or reckless may enter on their red light, and pedestrians or bicyclists may still be crossing. A short look to both sides and across the intersection lets you see them before you move into their path.
