What to expect in Tennessee

Official content profile, not a fixed test length

Tennessee's manual describes a multiple-choice Class D exam with approximately one quarter signs and signals, one quarter safe driving, one quarter road rules, and at least one quarter alcohol and drug effects. Current official sources do not publish a universal total, passing score, time limit, answer-choice count or separate sign minimum.

Official source

Original TLA practice blueprint

This practice mock uses 40 questions, a 32-correct learning target, ten sign questions and at least ten impairment-domain questions. Those are transparent Trusted Local Auto study choices, not claims about Tennessee's live exam length or scoring.

Official source

Current-law review remains fail-closed

The local draft bank remains unavailable until every claim is verified against exact current Tennessee law because the state-linked Title 55 portal did not provide a reliable current text capture during this review.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Tennessee Class D Knowledge practice test free?

Yes. All 243 questions, with their answers and explanations, are free, and so are the 5 numbered practice tests. You do not need an account to practise. You get 1 free exam simulation, and 2 with a free account. A free account also keeps your progress on all your devices. The optional Exam Pass is a one-time payment for one test and 90 days, not a subscription. It adds practice tools: practice by topic, practice of missed and saved questions until you get them right, more exam simulations, a timed exam simulator and a chance-to-pass score.
